Description
Premium Resources Botswana (PRB) is seeking for a highly experienced Exploration Manager to lead and oversee all geological exploration activities at its Selebi and Selkirk Mines Projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing new mineral resource opportunities in line with the company’s growth objectives. This role requires strong leadership, geological expertise, and project management skills to drive exploration programs from early-stage discovery through to resource definition.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement short- and long-term exploration strategies aligned with corporate goals.
- Project Oversight: Plan, manage, and execute greenfield and brownfield exploration programs, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline management.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of geologists, field technicians, and contractors; foster a culture of safety, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Technical Evaluation: Oversee geological mapping, sampling, drilling, and geophysical/geochemical surveys. Analyze and interpret geological data to assess mineral potential. Collaborate with universities to plan and execute effective research projects.
- Resource Estimation: Collaborate with internal/external consultants on resource modelling, estimation, and reporting in compliance with relevant standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with regulatory bodies, community leaders, and landowners to ensure exploration activities are conducted responsibly and in compliance with applicable laws.
- Reporting: Prepare technical reports, exploration updates, and presentations for senior management, investors, and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 25 years’ experience in mineral exploration, with at least 15 years in a leadership role.
- Proven success in managing exploration projects and discovery of economically viable mineral deposits.
- Strong knowledge of exploration techniques, GIS, and geological modelling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Datamine Studio RM, Fusion, DH Logger, ArcGIS).
- Familiarity with international NI 43-101 reporting code
- Excellent communication, leadership, budgeting and organizational skills.
- Experience working in a fast paced environment involving active drilling projects and integrating structure, geology and geophysical interpretations for targeting purposes
- Experience with deep hole drilling techniques, wedging/directional drilling with a background understanding of downhole gyro, borehole EM surveys.
- Strong background involving structural logging of oriented drill core and incorporation of televiewer data into a 3D structural geological model will be considered an asset.
- Sound Database management including verification of QAQC from analytical labs
- Willingness to travel and work in remote field locations as required.
- Must have a strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Experience working in a magmatic nickel copper sulphide environment will be considered a strong asset.
- Experience working in underground operations will be considered a strong asset
